Hello, I’m Steff
Nice that you are curious about me

It’s been a very long ride for me on the train of IT technologies in the last decades. Many of the fancy IT stuff from the beginning doesn’t even exist anymore – being replaced by new technologies far from what I thought back in the day we would end up with as of today.
Starting as a part time employee in a company with around 50 employees in 1990, I am proud that I was part of the journey that let the company grow to have over 4000 employees in 2011.
In 2011 we got acquired by another company, were I was allowed to further develop and lead global teams up to today.
The only bad side about that is perhaps that I lost my hair – but there’s no proof yet it’s related to the IT job 🙂
Motivation
For me it’s really amazing what technology can do – for the better and worse.
I am a supporter of the TOR project, the EFF and a big fan of open source software.
While at work I deal with many technologies, one of my hobbies is IT security. Lots of the knowledge gained there also finds its way into my work life – cheap way to have a security guy on board 🙂
Calling myself lucky that work and hobby went together for so long, altough my family sometimes disagrees when I take up my role as CFA (Chief Family Annoyer). Not everybody appreciates a firewall in the house…
Personal
If there is a problem I get triggered right away to find a solution – which can be bad if there are too many problems or the priorities are not clear…
But the number one priority at least is well defined, my family and our furry, purring relatives.
Seen a lot from the world and it actually taught me to be much more modest. My favorite countries are still Japan (family) and Singapore. This includes majority of the food provided there 🙂
I’m still into games, although time is limited. Hopefully that changes once I retired or the kids are out of the house…whatever comes first.
Laughing is very important to me, trying always to make people feel good. Which sometimes works better than sometimes else…
